Statement

The human experiences of remembering and dreaming form a sensory thread that connects us all. Like a Polaroid developing in reverse, memories and dreams inevitably fade, no matter how fiercely we try to hold onto them. My paintings are attempts to capture those fleeting sensations, a kind of hopeful flypaper for the elusive, magical residue that lingers in the moment after waking from a sweet dream.

Hands emerge repeatedly throughout my work, serving as both vessel and landscape. Universal yet deeply personal, they become containers for memory, emotion, and transformation. Our hands bear the marks of lived experience and connect us to one another through touch, creation, care, and loss. By filling them with symbolic imagery and dreamlike spaces, I create visual worlds where private memories can transform into shared human experiences.

I am drawn to that glittering, liminal space where language dissolves and symbols rise to the surface, revealing fragments of narrative and whispered meaning. I think of painting as having a kind of sound rooted in emotion, and I aim to offer viewers a sensory soundtrack for moments of wonder, like wet grass under bare feet at dusk, fireflies flickering and drifting through the air. Soul-stirring beauty is my North Star, and my process is deeply painterly and exploratory. Experimentation mirrors the sense of revelry I hope to evoke.

Bold color, patterned ornamentation, matte expanses, glossy sprays, glittering scatters, smeared passages, gossamer textures, and pooled paint function as my visual language. Through these elements, I seek to express the fleeting bliss of a disappearing dream or memory; something fragile, luminous, and just beyond reach.
